My favorite painting edited in Photoshop to be a vertical poster.

Results are pretty good in my opinion.  I wanted to show it off separately because you can't really see it very well in my bedroom render from the previous post.

The Fruit Bow.  I made the fruit all rotten and as unappealing as I could without changing the geometry.  The model was given to us, the model had to be at least 10 years old.  I used a layered texture shader on the orange because the geometry was so awful that UVing it would be impossible.

This unfortunate creation was the interior lighting assignment.  I rendered it wrong, it took 90 years still somehow for being such a low res image and the color is jacked up.   Also I don't think this ones theme was very successful but I feel like sharing it here because it was a learning experience.

Lately I have been learning how to render in Maya with the Arnold renderer.  All of these renders are assignments, but I think I went above and beyond what the assignments had called for because I want to be making things I am actually proud of rather than just doing the bare minimum,

Raptor Island.  The island scene needed to have a the raptor model from our first assignment.  My raptor was zombie inspired, if I had more time I might have themed him a bit better for a snowy scene like this.  The snow is on image planes and there are several layers of them.

I just competed in a 24 hour animation contest.  This was no ordinary contest however because this one involved over 1000 participants making up 200 teams from several dozen colleges located all over this big beautiful planet we call "Earth."  At the start we where given an unknown theme and then had 24 hours to make up a story and animate it from scratch.  The theme was "empathy" and "overcoming."

Here is what we came up with: Link to youtube video!!!

Concept sketch for Willy.  A cave man in there too because why not.  I had a lot clearer idea on how I wanted the cave man to look so there are only a few concepts.  Willy on the other hand I was not sure how cute or ugly I wanted him to be.

A poster I made for a local event called "Cardboard Challenge".  The Cardboard Challenge is based off of a short documentary called Caine's Arcade which was about a boy named Caine who built his own arcade from carboard in his dad's auto parts shop somewhere in LA.  This documentary inspired many kids and families around the world to be more creative.  The Cardboard Challege is an annual event for kids to use their imaginations for an afternoon and make some fun cardboard creations.

The poster was created using photoshop and some real cardboard.  The Robot was the first one I created so, in my opinion, he is my least favorite, but I learned a lot doing it so the next three went a lot quicker and smoother.

The compositing is loosely based on a plate my sister had as a kid.
